Formed on September 9th 2001, The VII Photo Agency has created and published some of the most compelling photography of the 21st Century. The collectively owned agency, beginning with seven founding members, has since grown in size and importance, and documents both global conflict and the ever-evolving social and cultural developments happening worldwide.

In 2011, Canon commissioned Blue Barn Pictures to produce a 10-part series of interviews with the VII photojournalists. Each interview reveals the life of the photojournalist and examines their work within violent and non-violent events, and the equipment they use to do so.

A founding member of the VII Agency, Christopher Morris has worked as a photographer since the early 1980s. Initially known for his conflict photography, Morris moved into political photography, being assigned to the White House in the early 2000s. Recently, Morris has assumed his role as a fashion photographer, working with designers such as Roberto Cavalli and Louis Vuitton. Throughout his career, Morris has won a multitude of awards, including the Infinity Photojournalist award from the International Center of Photography, New York.

Crossing Dumbo

Crossing Dumbo, a web series delves deep into the local community of Dumbo, Brooklyn. A collection of video portraits of local artists, entrepreneurs and residents, the web series, created and produced by David Castillo, takes an intimate look at the people who create the neighborhood. With a wide range of subjects, from art and design to baking and sports, each interview invites its audience to view Dumbo’s creative community in a personal light.

The Dirty Pearls

The Dirty Pearls are the rejuvenation of the Lower East Side rock scene. When they came to Blue Barn looking to create a music video to compliment their new catchy, heart-pounding single “Static”, we knew we had to create something to really capture their in-your-face style. So, using an XBox Kinect along with the Canon 5D Mark II we created a 3D static world for The Pearls to rock in.

Premiered live to a sold-out crowd at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on June 30, 2011.

Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble recently introduced the largest centralized collection of children’s books to the Nook Color. Kids can carry around hundreds of beautiful picture books in full color. Blue Barn was assigned to produce a promotional video of kids interacting with these pictures and words in new, very organic ways, swiping from page to page, enlarging their favorite illustrations.

Allrecipes.com is one the most visited food websites on the planet. Part of The Reader’s Digest Association, Allrecipes is a social network that provides millions of monthly visitors with recipes, reviews, photos and meal ideas. Blue Barn was asked to write, shoot and edit 15 how-to videos, each one of them focused on a specific recipe.

Coby

Blue Barn produced a series of nine tutorial videos for Coby’s new Kyros internet tablets. Shot in studio on a white cyc, each video showcases a different feature of the tablet. Blue Barn’s work for Coby stretched from developing the concept and writing the scripts, all the way to the final delivery of the compressed video files. All versions were translated into Spanish and produced for the Latin America market as well. The videos live on the Coby website and will also be shown at trade shows.

AOL

Blue Barn has been creating videos for multiple websites under the AOL umbrella. We filmed The Next Iron Chef winner, Michael Symon, at the Food Network, for the Slashfood website. During Fashion Week in New York City, we shot, edited and posted daily interviews with celebrities and designers for StyleList. We also produced videos for Moviefone, MyDaily and AOL News.
